So far, in this series of articles, we have looked at reasons why some people heal faster than others.
We have learned it is easier to become healthy when in alignment with healing, and some of the ways that this can be achieved.
To recap, in Subconscious blocks to healing Part 1 I introduced the different kinds of fear that need to be released for healing to continue. And, in Part 2, we looked at the impact of feeling unworthy and how to take steps to overcome it.
Next, we will discover a subconscious barrier to healing many educated people and a lot of Americans struggle with. In fact, if you have ever found yourself wondering “Why can’t I solve this problem myself” or have felt too ashamed to ask for help, you may have battled it yourself.
Let’s find out more about the cause of these feelings.
Subconscious blocks to healing – The ego
As a well-educated professional and a holistic brain health practitioner, I’m guilty of this myself.

When somebody that doesn’t have my level of education or experience tells me about another effective method, if it doesn’t make sense to me, I tend to be less open to learning more than I would if it came from someone with more expertise.
And I’m not alone. In fact, research confirms that being an expert in your field is associated with being less open to consider alternatives presented by others.
We see this in the Western medical community. Doctors have worked hard to earn their degrees and deserved status, but when they can’t fix a problem, too many either deny it exists or they tell the patient it’s incurable.
In many cases that’s simply not true – I know this from my clients who come and see me after not getting their needs met with Western medicine.
Because I work with them to address the root causes of problems, they often show significant improvements. An added benefit is their hope gets restored and they experience more positive changes than ever thought possible.
Our ego not only gets in the way of our own healing, but it can also get in the way of the healing progress of people who trust us. And the effects of this can be devastating.
So, let’s try to put those egos aside and get in alignment with healing either for yourself or those who depend on you.
Because there is always more to learn!

In this series, we will address one last important reason why we sabotage our healing. This one is common in people who’ve had a lot of trauma.
If someone you know has tried many different things to help with healing and they complain that nothing ever works, please share this article with them.
