The Issues in the Tissues

issues in the tissues

It seems, these days, my clients need me to spend the most time working with them to revitalize their tissues. And while there are several things I need to do to address any physical impediments to healing, I’ve discovered that addressing the emotional needs of the tissues is just as important!

With every ache and pain my clients want help with, I almost always have to address the issues in the tissues.

So, which tissues are we talking about?

It could be anything. The entire body, part of an organ or a blood vessel, a tissue type like B cells, all connective tissue, or could even be an entire system like the central nervous system.

Any tissue in the body can have issues.

And, as you may expect, the tissues can have many kinds of issues. They can be traumatized, causing them to overreact, and contributing to inflammation. They could hold limiting beliefs because of being infected, injured, or starved. They can even feel disempowered to defend themselves or hold a belief they can’t do their jobs.

Here are some examples of how addressing issues in the tissues really made a difference:

Receding gums

tooth pain

My client wanted me to clear up the infections in her mouth before she went to the dentist. A common problem I encounter when working with dental issues is the high risk of getting a new infection. This happens because the gums often recede, creating holes where food gets trapped. Because we can’t clear it out with a toothbrush, it is susceptible to mold.

But I realized her gums had receded because they were afraid of the teeth! So, if I cleared up the infection in the tooth and the gum’s fear of the tooth, the gums would return to their original position! I was delighted to find that the week after my client’s session, there was no longer any holes between the gums and teeth. No more trapped food and no more mold!

Body Trauma

I’ve discovered that horrific experiences not only cause mental trauma, but our bodies, or parts of them can also store trauma. I’m not alone in this belief – there seems to be a growing awareness of this amongst mental health professionals.

My personal experience was when I was struggling with mold in my apartment. It came in drifts, wasn’t constant, so I would discover the source and try to mitigate it by isolating the problem.

One night, I noticed my cat was struggling to breathe. I discovered mold was coming quickly and constantly through heating vents. I had received a message that I needed to evacuate only a few days prior that I chose to ignore, as I didn’t even want to consider it.

I could ignore it no longer! I scooped my cat up, put her in the safest room, cleared the new mold that had accumulated in her lungs, heart and thoracic area to restore her breathing, and set about finding a place for us to go. I had never felt so much panic before. I had learned the effects of mold from working with some of my clients and knew that it can cause an incredible amount of anxiety! Luckily, friends took us in for the night, and I worked to clear myself and my cat from the different types of molds and yeasts we had accumulated. As I cleared each mold the anxiety was gradually brought down, and at 2:00 am I finally felt I could sleep.

can't sleep

But as soon as I lay down, my heart started beating loudly and persistently! It would stop if I sat up, and as soon as I led back down it would act up! My heart was screaming that I needed to stay vigilant – it was not safe to sleep! I had to release the trauma in my heart, and the belief it wasn’t safe to sleep. It wasn’t until 3:00 am that my heart was finally able to settle down. I slept through the rest of the night, and was considerably calmer the next day.

Autoimmunity

Research in Western medicine suggests the causes of autoimmunity and mechanisms involved are complex. But there’s a much simpler explanation if we simply acknowledge that our tissues have issues.

I have found that people often develop autoimmune conditions after tissues have been infected by pathogens and/or toxins. As tissues get infectious, the immune system develops a belief the tissues are dangerous and starts attacking them. Doing so might get rid of the pathogen or toxin that caused the problem in the first place. But often the immune system is so traumatized by the infected tissue that it continues to attack it – and that pattern can linger long beyond the original infectious agent!

Simply releasing the belief that the tissue is dangerous is often sufficient to stopping the autoimmunity. Sometimes I also need to help the immune system realize it’s their job to protect and care for the tissue!

So, do the problems associated with the autoimmunity instantly go away? Unfortunately, not – because most of the time, the tissues need to heal from damage, so I must work on those as well. But addressing the issues of the immune system essentially tackles the root cause of the problem, and reduces the chance a client’s symptoms will worsen.

Weight loss

Ever since I became a teenager, I’ve had an apple shaped body. Admittedly, I ate too many sweets as a child and teen, but despite healthy eating and daily workouts since college, I’ve always been pudgy. In my early 30’s I joined a friend in Weight Watchers. I lost weight, but I was miserable. My body felt like it was starving, and I couldn’t stop thinking about food! The weight loss wasn’t worth it, and I gave up.

As a healer, I’ve tried addressing tons of issues inhibiting my ability to lose weight. I worked with my set point, my body’s ability to kill fat cells, my inability to make brown fat, I’ve lowered my blood sugar, and I take probiotics that support weight loss. None of it has made much of a difference.

I recently realized that my waist didn’t want to release the fat – it didn’t feel it was safe to do so! This suddenly made sense! It’s a fact that the apple shaped body is associated with stress, and I’ve noticed there seems to be an inverse correlation of waist size with early childhood poverty. So, all I had to do was release my waist’s belief that it isn’t safe to let go of the fat! I was skeptical about whether this would work, as I had tried so many things that hadn’t made much of a difference.

Since then, I’ve lost 6 Ib, and 3.1 inches from my waist! My skinniest jeans which were tight for years are almost loose! It was 3 weeks ago I had to leave my apartment, and deal with the brutal search for housing in Seattle – this weight loss is happening in one of the most stressful periods of my life. This is stunning because previously I’ve always retained weight with stress!

Could your tissues be holding on to issues? Are you struggling with a chronic condition that just won’t go away? Your tissues might be holding onto trauma or beliefs that are getting in the way of healing. I help my clients address both the physical causes, and the issues in the tissues to get them in alignment with healing. Need my support? Contact me here to set up a complimentary consultation.
